When Your Knee Needs More Than a Bag of Ice
Loose ice packs slide off. Frozen vegetables drip. Removable ice cell inserts drift away from the injury the moment you move. And none of them provide compression — the second half of the medically recommended ice-AND-compression protocol for soft tissue knee injuries. Cold One® is built differently, from the inside out, for people who need their therapy to actually work.
The Science Behind Cold One's Design: Three Layers, One System
Every Cold One® Knee Wrap is constructed from three integrated, stretchable layers that work simultaneously. The outer layer of nitrogen-blown neoprene insulates the cold inside and prevents external moisture buildup. The middle layer houses segmented, non-toxic, water-based ice cells that are permanently sewn into the fabric — they cannot shift, migrate, or fall out of position during use. The inner layer of rubber-impregnated linen protects against cryoburn and prevents interior condensation, keeping your skin dry throughout the session. All three layers stretch together, which means as you tighten the Velcro straps, every part of the wrap — including the ice cells — presses directly against your knee simultaneously. This is the only design that delivers true cold AND compression at the same time, to the same tissue, at the same moment.
Clinically Correct Duration — The 15–20 Minute Protocol
Orthopedic MDs at the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic recommend icing for exactly 15–20 minutes per session, a minimum of 2–3 times per day. Icing for longer does not improve outcomes and risks cryoburn — tissue damage from prolonged cold contact. Cold One's water-based ice cells freeze to precisely 32°F (0°C) and are engineered to thaw within 15–20 minutes at normal body and room temperature. The therapy stops automatically. You do not need to set a timer. You cannot over-ice. The session is self-regulating by design — a feature no competing knee wrap provides.
Conditions This Wrap Is Designed to Treat
Orthopedic MDs and physical therapists recommend icing and compression for: acute sprains and strains; post-surgical recovery from total or partial knee replacement; ACL, MCL, and PCL tears and reconstruction; torn or damaged meniscus; knee bursitis (including prepatellar and pes anserine bursitis); Baker's cyst (popliteal cyst) swelling; patella tendonitis (Jumper's Knee); iliotibial band syndrome (Runner's Knee); patellofemoral pain syndrome; housemaid's knee (prepatellar bursitis); dislocated or subluxating kneecap; and chronic osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis flare management.
How to Use Your Cold One® Knee Wrap
Place the wrap in a home or commercial freezer for 60–90 minutes before first use. You can store it in the freezer indefinitely between sessions — it is always ready when you need it. Remove from the freezer and loosely apply around the knee. If the knee is sensitive from recent surgery or acute injury, allow the ice cells to begin to soften slightly before tightening. Once comfortable, tighten the Velcro straps to your desired compression level. Wear for 15–20 minutes. The wrap will warm naturally — you will feel the transition. Return to the freezer. Repeat a minimum of 2–3 times daily for maximum therapeutic benefit. Between icing sessions, the wrap may be worn unfrozen as a soft compression brace for continued joint support and swelling management.
Safety, Materials, and Care
Cold One® Knee Wraps are constructed from non-toxic, non-hazardous materials and are safe for direct skin contact, including post-surgical incision sites. No chemical coolants or additives are used — the ice cells contain water-based solution only. The wrap is dishwasher-safe on the top rack and the inner linen layer can be disinfected with antibacterial wipes for clinical or post-surgical applications.
